Vinicius Junior is one of Real Madrid's great successes in the last decade. The Spanish side agreed to buy him for more than $40 million in 2017, when he was just a teenager with a few official games for Flamengo of Rio de Janeiro. The following year he arrived in Madrid and went through a period of adaptation in which he didn't have much of a place in the team.

However, once he got used to the pace of European soccer and the demands of Real Madrid, he showed all his talent and quickly became one of the team's stars. In fact, he was key to the 2021/22 Champions League title, scoring the decisive goal in the final against Liverpool.

Los Merengues are very satisfied with his performances and that is why a few weeks ago they announced the renewal of the contract with the Brazilian winger until 2027, with a salary increase and an exit clause impossible for any club to pay: more than $1 billion. However, this week 'Vini' shocked everyone by revealing that he will join a new team.

He will be a partner and ambassador of LOUD, an eSports organization based in Brazil that competes professionally in video games such as Free Fire, League of Legends and Valorant. This is how he announced it through a post on his official Instagram account: "Signed contract, custom t-shirt and shiny pendant. I'm not only arriving as an ambassador but also to participate in the board of directors. The plan is to represent the fans and work hard to reach another level! Let's keep bringing the passion and culture of Brazil to the global video game scene!"

He's not the first to do so

Vinicius Junior is following in the footsteps of other soccer stars who have also dabbled in eSports. Lionel Messi recently joined KRÜ, a team founded by his former Argentina teammate Sergio Aguero. Gerard Piqué, Casemiro and Aymeric Laporte are also involved in this activity.
