Gerard Pique was for more than a decade one of the most respected players in the world. He was part of the, for many, best team in the history of soccer, the Barcelona team led by Pep Guardiola that won the Champions League twice in 2009 and 2011 and had stars like Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez. In addition, he also shined with the Spanish National Team in the 2010 World Cup.

However, in recent years he has been in the news for reasons that have nothing to do with soccer. The scandalous end of his relationship with Shakira was one of the gossips that captured more attention in the media and social networks, as well as the consequences it had. For example, the Colombian singer a few months ago dedicated a song to him with the Argentine producer Bizarrap.

And now again Pique starred in an unexpected situation while in Mexico to launch the Kings League Americas, a competition similar to soccer but with seven players per team and some different rules that has been very successful in Spain.

In a video posted on social media, the former player is seen walking towards a fan who offered him a jersey, while listening to something on his cell phone. But before reaching his destination he fell into a hole in the stage and disappeared completely. This caused the surprise and concern of those who were there, although in the end nothing serious happened. Even Pique himself joked about this on social media and called it a "magic trick".

The reactions of fans

Once the video was posted on the internet, users wrote funny responses. One said: "If this is not the fail of the year I don't understand anything"; another added: "I didn't know I needed to see how Pique fell HAHAHAHA". And then another made a reference to the Colombian singer and wrote: “Shakira soon released a song celebrating the fall.”
