Paris Saint-Germain need to get a win this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes against AC Milan to get closer to the goal of qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League. They started this week in second place in the Group F standings with 3 points, after beating Borussia Dortmund and losing to Newcastle.

Their rivals had not won any match, but they had not lost either. In addition, they had neither conceded nor scored goals. Stefano Pioli's team proved to be solid defensively, although with deficiencies when it came to controlling the ball and creating dangerous situations.

Against this backdrop, during the first half Paris Saint-Germain proved to be the more ambitious of the two teams. From the start, they tried to take possession of the ball and play in the opponent's half, although they did not always succeed. And the visitors took advantage of the speed of their forwards, especially Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao, although they lacked lucidity near the opponent's box.

There had been no dangerous situations until the 32nd minute when Warren Zaire Emery started an attack in midfield; he dribbled past an opposing player and gave a great assist to Kylian Mbappé. The French striker received the ball outside the box, advanced a few yards deceiving a visiting defender with his movements and when he found the necessary space, he shot with his right foot, making it impossible for goalkeeper Mike Maignan to react. Kiki' once again proved to be key for PSG, as in Ligue 1 and in the win against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League opener.

They need to react

AC Milan are in trouble. If they do not recover at the Parc des Princes they will be left with two points out of a possible nine and their chances of qualifying for the Round of 16 will be increasingly slim. Coach Stefano Pioli may make some changes to the team after the break. The substitutes are Antonio Mirante, Lapo Nava, Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Davide Bartesaghi, Alessandro Florenzi, Yacine Adli, Tommaso Pobega, Luka Jovic and Chaka Traore.
