Liverpool have a clear objective this Thursday: to beat LASK of Austria at Anfield Road and move closer to qualifying for the round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League. They are the leaders of Group E, but they have nothing to spare. The defeat against Toulouse FC a couple of weeks ago made things difficult for them, as the French side were only two points behind them in the standings.

However, they now have an ideal opportunity to turn the page and put that blow behind them. This is because they face the weakest team in the group at home. The Austrians have lost four of the five matches they have played, beaten only Union Saint-Gilloise and have 3 points.

The Reds knew they were better than their rivals, but they had to prove it. And at the start of the match, they did just that. After 12 minutes of the first half, Luis Diaz gave a pass to Joseph Gomez and got into the box to wait for the floated cross. The defender did exactly that and assisted the Colombian forward, who scored the opener with a header.

And just a few moments later Cody Gakpo doubled the lead. After 15 minutes, Diaz started the attack with a pass to Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian winger reached the back of the field and, just before the ball crossed the line, he sent a precise assist to Gakpo, who only had to push the ball and netted the second goal. Then Konstantinos Tsimikas came close to scoring another, with a strong left-footed shot that hit the crossbar.

At home they are unstoppable

Luis Diaz's goal allowed Liverpool to hold an incredible record: they have scored goals in the last 20 games they have played at Anfield Road, considering all competitions, such as Premier League and UEFA Europa League. This shows that the Reds are very strong at home, but that they must improve when they play in other stadiums.
