The Spanish National Team achieved during the international break in October the qualification to Euro 2024. Their good performances and results in group A allowed them to secure their place in the continent's most important national team tournament, which will be held next summer in Germany. That is why the matches of this November international break were a mere formality for them, since nothing could change their situation.

However, coach Luis De La Fuente decided to call up all the Spanish stars and include them in the matches against Cyprus and Georgia. His intention was to face these games seriously and continue working with the team to improve its performance. But things did not go well.

The manager will surely receive criticism for this decision, as it had serious consequences. In the match against Cyprus, Mikel Oyarzabal scored one of the goals in the 3-1 victory, but was then replaced. And after medical tests, it was found that he suffered an injury in the biceps femoris of the left leg.

Things did not improve on Sunday vs Georgia. After 26 minutes, Gavi jumped to get the ball and when he fell, he did it with all the weight of his body on his right knee, which was in an unnatural position. He immediately showed signs of great pain and could not continue on the field, so he was replaced by Oihan Sancet. 

The signs are not good

While details of what happened are not yet known, everything seems to indicate that Gavi's injury may be very serious. In fact, during the second half Ferrán Torres, his teammate at Barcelona, scored a goal and celebrated it by showing Gavi's 9 shirt. This means that the midfielder is not well at all and that most likely his knee injury is severe. That is why the Catalan side must be very worried, as they could lose one of their best players for a long time.
