The match between Brazil and Argentina on Tuesday was a battle. Both teams had lost last Thursday, against Colombia and Uruguay respectively, and needed to get a win to bounce back. Added to that was the tension inherent in a clash between two teams that have a historic rivalry and have competed many times to win titles.

And it all got worse before the start of the match. While the anthems of both countries were being played, fights broke out in the stands between fans. At that moment, the Brazilian police intervened and began to violently repress the Argentine fans. This caused concern among the visiting players, who even had family and friends in the stands.

Therefore, instead of preparing to start the match, they went to that sector of the stadium to try to help the people. But when they saw that things were not calming down, they decided to leave the field and return to the locker room to contact their family and friends to make sure they were all right.

Once the worst was over, they returned to the field. But at that moment some players from both teams had arguments about what had happened. The Brazilians felt that their opponents had not acted well, while the Argentinians reproached them for their lack of solidarity.

What happened with Leo?

One of the most tense discussions took place between a former Barcelona ace and a Real Madrid star. Rodrygo Goes was talking to Rodrigo De Paul, when Lionel Messi approached him and for a few seconds they talked with angry gestures. According to Sport newspaper, the Brazilian forward accused the Argentine players of being "cowards". And Messi replied: “We are world champions. Why cowards? Shut your mouth”. Then the tension was also seen during the match, with many fouls from both teams and few chances of danger in the areas.
