Chelsea had their best week in a long time. Their start to the 2023/24 season had been as bad as the end of the previous one. The team's performances had been far from expectations and the results even more so. As a result, they went into Monday's game against Fulham in 15th place in the Premier League standings with only 5 points.

However, last week they had already shown signs of improvement: in the round of 32 of the Carabao Cup they beat Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 and advanced to the next round. This undoubtedly allowed them to improve their morale and the difference was noticeable at Craven Cottage.

From the start of the match Chelsea showed they were better than their rivals and quickly scored the opener: after 18 minutes, Levi Colwill gave a great pass to Mykhailo Mudryk, who controlled the ball with his chest, entered the box and deceived goalkeeper Bernd Leno with a subtle left-footed shot. Moments later Pochettino's side struck again: Cole Palmer took advantage of a mistake by the Fulham defenders, recovered the ball and assisted Armando Broja, who with a bit of luck doubled the lead.

During the second half, The Blues did not need to make a great effort to preserve the victory. They controlled the ball and the field calmly and even had chances to score the third goal, as Maatsen's shot hit the post.

The curse is over

Mykhailo Mudryk joined Chelsea in January for over $100 million. This caused great expectation among fans, but that quickly turned to disappointment as the Ukrainian forward's performances were unsatisfactory. This also caused mockery on social media, as in his first 20 games he was unable to score goals. But this Monday against Fulham finally ended the curse and Mudryk celebrated for the first time in England.
