Luis Suárez has been the subject of numerous rumors in recent days as a possible signing for Inter Miami, Lionel Messi's new team. The American club intends to reunite the Uruguayan striker with his former Barcelona teammate to form a powerful duo in MLS.

However, the Uruguayan goal scorer seems to have different plans for his short-term career, retirement from football. In what has been a real bombshell in Brazil, media reports on Tuesday indicate that Suárez wants to hang up his boots this year and has already communicated his decision to the Gremio board.

According to reports from the Brazilian press, the reason why Luis Suárez wants to retire from football at the age of 36 is the severe knee pain he has been experiencing for quite some time. It is a chronic injury that prevents him from playing without discomfort.

Upon learning of Luis Suárez's decision, it is said that the Gremio board is already working on terminating his contract. The Brazilian club is reportedly understanding towards the Uruguayan striker but is also ensuring to include an "anti-Inter Miami" clause. In Porto Alegre, there are suspicions that the Uruguayan is trying to force his way out.

He shined immediately

Luis Suárez joined Brazil's Gremio for the 2023 season. Quickly, the Uruguayan showed a high level and shined in the state tournaments and the Brasileirao. So far, he has scored 14 goals and provided eight assists in 26 matches with Gremio de Porto Alegre.
