Tottenham have this Friday an ideal opportunity to move closer to the top of the Premier League standings. They face Nottingham Forest, one of the weakest teams in the tournament, who are on a 5-game winless streak and are getting closer and closer to the relegation zone.

With 30 points, Spurs are only three points behind Manchester City, who are in fourth place in the table and are, for now, the last ones in the Champions League 2024/25 qualification zone. That is precisely one of the objectives of Ange Postecoglou's team for this season. But they also know that if they win this Friday, they will be only 4 points behind leaders Liverpool.

However, so far they have not been able to prove their superiority over Nottingham Forest. During the first minutes of the match, they controlled the ball and pushed the hosts close to their own box, but they did not make good decisions at key moments.

One of the situations that hurt Tottenham's performance was the injury to Brennan Johnson. The Welsh forward was one of the best in the team, but after 30 minutes he suffered a blow to his head that prevented him from continuing to play. The medical specialists examined him on the field and advised him to be replaced because of the risk of a blow to the head. This led to the application of a recent soccer rule: when players suffer such blows to the head, their substitution is not counted among the five substitutions that each team can make.

They found the goal near the end

As the first half was drawing to a close, Dejan Kulusevski received the ball on the right side of the field, dribbled past an opposing defender and sent a beautiful floated cross to Richarlison, who scored the opener with a precise header. This will undoubtedly give Spurs more composure to play with in the second half.
