In 2021, news broke that nobody expected, Lionel Messi was leaving Barcelona to join the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain. Now, after being crowned Ligue 1 champions, the story between the Parisian club and Messi appears to be reaching its end.
Since his arrival at Paris Saint-Germain, Messi has had a career filled with ups and downs, a situation that hasn't pleased the fans. However, what has caused the most discontent has been the team's eliminations from the Champions League, as it was believed that with Messi, they could lift the coveted title.
In this last season, PSG has played 37 matches in Ligue 1, and Messi has appeared in all of them, starting in each one. He has managed to score 16 goals and provide 16 assists, but despite these numbers, he is still far from his best form.
It is now widely known that Messi will leave the Parisian club in the summer, and there are two teams that have shown great interest in him. The first is Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia, while the second is the club where Messi grew up and called home for many years, Barcelona.
Although initially, everything pointed towards Messi returning to Barcelona, it now seems that won't be the case. According to information from Foot Mercato, Messi's father and representative have reportedly accepted an offer from Al-Hilal, which amounts to 600 million EUR per year.
