The October international break was a nightmare for Neymar. In the match against Venezuela he did not perform well, Brazil drew 1-1 and the fans showed their anger with insults and aggressions, for example throwing a bag of popcorn at him and hitting him in the head. And in the following days there were rumors of two scandals in which he was involved: an alleged quarrel with the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation and a party with women in a hotel, together with Vinicius Junior and Richarlison.

But the worst happened last Tuesday, when he had to be replaced during the first half of the match against Uruguay in Montevideo due to a pain in his left knee. And then the medical tests gave negative results: he tore his cruciate ligaments and meniscus, will have to undergo surgery and will be out of the field for 6 to 8 months.

This is obviously terrible news for Ney, who in recent years has lost much of his career to injuries. But also for Al-Hilal. The Saudi Arabian club invested a lot of money this summer to sign the Brazilian star: they paid almost $100 million to Paris Saint-Germain and signed the player to a two-year contract, with a salary of almost $150 million per season.

However, his participation with the team was brief. He arrived in Saudi Arabia with an injury that prevented him from playing the first matches of the Pro League; then he traveled to South America for the international break in September; the week he returned to Brazil for the birth of his daughter and now, during the international break in October, he suffered this injury. In total, Neymar played only 5 games in Al-Hilal, scored one goal and provided 3 assists.

What can they do?

Al-Hilal will be able to complain to FIFA about Ney's injury. The Club Protection Program is a system that allows teams to receive cash compensation for injuries suffered by their players while they are competing with their respective national teams. This will allow them to receive an initial payment of $1.6 million, to which monthly installments will be added up to a total amount of almost $8 million.
