The French striker arrived in Saudi Arabia this summer, but things are not going well.

One of the most surprising signings in the soccer world this summer was the signing of Karim Benzema by Al-Ittihad. The striker was one of the top stars in Europe, in fact he had won the Ballon d'Or in 2022 thanks to his great performance with Real Madrid in the Champions League, and everyone imagined that he was going to continue in the Spanish side.

However, he made an unexpected decision and left La Casa Blanca at the end of last season to accept a multi-million dollar proposal from Saudi Arabia. Following in the footsteps of his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, he joined the Pro League in exchange for a salary of $216 million per year. And along with him came other stars to Al-Ittihad, such as N'Golo Kanté and Fabinho.

But things did not get off to an ideal start, as rumors quickly began to spread about alleged problems at the club. Some claim that the chiefs are not satisfied with the performance of players such as Portuguese winger Jota and goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe, so they could be excluded from the squad. On top of that, there is the alleged bad relationship between Benzema and Nuno Espiritu Santo.

Tired of these rumors, the coach spoke at a press conference and said: “I want to clarify one thing. I read in the press that my relationship with Karim was not good. Those who know me will know, of course, that this is bullsh…”

Things are OK

Nuno Espiritu Santo also assured: “My relationship with all the players is good. We have a strong group relationship and we are happy with all the players. We are happy that Karim is here with us. He is happy, as you can see on the pitch. He is enjoying playing for Al-Ittihad. I understand where he comes from. But we are a very strong group.”
