Barcelona are still suffering the consequences of several years of bad decisions by their chiefs. The board headed by Josep Maria Bartomeu made many mistakes during the years they commanded the Catalan team. This resulted in huge economic losses and debts that are still unpaid today.

But now Laporta seems more optimistic about the club's future. In an interview with former player Marc Crosas for TUDN, the president of Los Blaugranas said: "We are at a key moment, the turning point. Once the club is saved, we will compete again".

He then referred to the achievements of his management and assured: "We have achieved something very important at a time of maximum difficulty. Investors believe in Barça. They believe that this club has great potential. We have obtained the financing to pay for the construction of this project. It was no small thing as we needed $1.5 billion."

Can they win the Champions League?

In the 2022/23 season Barcelona won the La Liga title after 4 years. The great work of coach Xavi Hernandez and the good performances of the players allowed them to become champions in Spain. However, they were far from the best teams in Europe, as they could not even advance in the group stage of the Champions League.
