The great news that president Joan Laporta gave to Barcelona fans

Barcelona confirmed this Thursday the renewal of Alejandro Balde's contract. The defender signed until 2028, so coach Xavi Hernandez will not have to worry about him for a long time. This was announced at an event held at the Ciutat Esportiva, the club's training ground.

Joan Laporta was there and said he was very happy to have reached an agreement with Balde: "I want to thank him for wanting to continue. Barça is in his blood. Today is a historic day in Barcelona because it confirms a fact that we culés like: a boy trained at home who reaches the first team, overcoming all the difficulties. He arrives because he loves Barça and because his parents have taught him commitment, loyalty and respect".

However, that was not the only thing the president of the Spanish club had to say. He also gave an optimistic message to the fans: "We have made a lot of efforts to be able to register all the players. We think it is worth the effort we have made. As we have a lot of confidence in the management we are doing, the club will be financially recovered sooner than foreseen in the strategic plan. If the team works, the club will notice it. It is very important that the sporting side works because it helps everything".

This announcement came as a surprise to everyone, as until now Barcelona's chiefs had been very cautious about the club's financial situation. In fact, they had attributed many of the decisions taken in recent years, such as not renewing Lionel Messi's contract in 2021, to these problems.

The next targets

Having resolved the Alejandro Balde situation, Deco, Barcelona's new sporting director, now has two priorities: Xavi Hernandez and Lamine Yamal. With the coach there have already been talks and everything seems to be on track for the renewal of his contract; while the young winger has attracted the attention of many clubs in Europe with his good performances, so they will try to sign him to a new contract and make sure they will not be able to take him away easily.
