Luis Enrique is one of the most respected coaches in Europe. Between 2014 and 2017 he coached Barcelona and was very successful there: he won two La Liga titles and the Champions League 2014/15, with a team that shone thanks to stars like Lionel Messi, Neymar, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez and Luis Suarez. He was then hired by the Spanish National Team, with which he reached the round of 16 at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

And this summer he reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain to replace Christophe Galtier and take charge of the team's reconstruction after two consecutive failures in the Champions League. However, his start on the French side has not been as good as expected, as they are third in the Ligue 1 standings and in the Champions League they suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat against Newcastle.

This has caused the French media to be very critical of the Spanish manager, to whom they especially discuss some strategic decisions such as having played with 4 forwards in England and leaving the midfield unprotected, something that The Magpies took advantage of.

And now he has unexpectedly received harsh criticism from Aurelio De Laurentiis. The Napoli president had to look for a replacement for Luciano Spaletti, who after winning the Serie A title last season, left the club. At a press conference, De Laurentiis said: "I called several coaches. I asked Thiago Motta, but he didn't want to. I called Luis Enrique and thank goodness he went to PSG, look at the results he is doing. He hadn't even convinced me in the conversation we had for three days."

It's not going well for him

De Laurentiis finally hired Rudi Garcia as coach, but things are not going as expected. Napoli are in fifth place in the Serie A standings, 7 points behind leaders AC Milan, and last weekend lost 3-1 at home to Fiorentina.
