In December 2022 the map of world soccer changed. At that time, Cristiano Ronaldo surprised everyone by leaving Manchester United amid a conflict with coach Erik Ten Hag and agreed to join Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr in exchange for a salary of more than $200 million per year, making him the highest paid player in the world.

In the first half of the year things did not go well for the team, which failed to win the Pro League title and finished second behind Al-Ittihad. But last summer everything changed: Al-Nassr added other stars such as Marcelo Brozovic, Aymeric Laporte, Seko Fofana and Sadio Mané to accompany CR7 and raise the team's level.

And other clubs did the same. The last champions signed Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kanté, Jota and Fabinho. Al-Ahli added Riyad Mahrez, Allan Saint-Maximine, Roberto Firmino, Gabri Veiga, Edouard Mendy and Franck Kessie. And Al-Hilal convinced Neymar Junior, in addition to signing other stars such as Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Ruben Neves, Bono, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Kaliudou Koulibaly.

All these clubs agreed multi-million dollar salaries with them and thus managed to get them out of Europe, strengthening the Pro League and making it a much more attractive tournament for fans around the world. But some things are not working out as expected.

What's going on?

According to The Sun, many of the stars who arrived in Saudi Arabia this summer are not happy with the decision they made. The low level of competition, the low level of interest in the tournament and the low turnout in the stadiums are some of the reasons why the players are disappointed. And even the English newspaper says that several stars who moved to Saudi Arabia deeply regret doing it. Some hate every second there.
