Neymar had an unexpected departure from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. Despite having worked throughout the preseason under the orders of Luis Enrique, in the week before the debut in Ligue 1 the chiefs announced that they were not going to take him into account for the 2023/24 season and that he should look for a new club where he could continue his professional career.

That is why he chose Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia, where he will earn a fortune in salary and bonuses. However, he still could not make his debut due to some physical problems, and now he traveled to South America to join the Brazil National Team for the first matches of the qualifiers, against Bolivia and Peru.

Before Friday's match against Bolivia, Neymar gave a press conference in which he was asked about his arrival in Saudi Arabia and said: "The training rhythm is intense, the thirst to win is great. I want to win titles with Al-Hilal. Nothing changes in my mind. It's not going to be easy to win the Saudi championship because there are other teams that have strengthened, there are name players and, I'm sure it's going to be a very interesting league."

But that was not all, as he took the opportunity to criticize Ligue 1, where he played for 6 years, comparing it to the Pro League: "I assure you that the soccer there is the same. The ball is round, there is goalkeeping. From the names that have gone to the Saudi league... I don't know if it's better than the French league. People say that the championship is not known, that it is weak... everyone said that when I went to the French championship and it was the place where I suffered the most in life."

They begin their journey

Brazil will play this Friday night their first match in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Their first opponent will be Bolivia and they will play at the Estadio Estadual Jornalista Edgar Augusto Proença in the city of Belém.
