Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have starred in several memorable matches over the last two decades. When the Portuguese striker played for Manchester United and Leo for Barcelona, they met in the 2009 Champions League final in Rome, with the Catalan side winning 2-0 thanks to a goal by the Argentine player.

And shortly after CR7 was transferred to Real Madrid, so fans around the world could enjoy for almost a decade at least two duels per year between them, for La Liga, in addition to other matches for Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup and Champions League. Then, with the changes of club of both, those games became less frequent.

In fact, the last one was at the beginning of 2023, when Paris Saint-Germain were invited to participate in the Riyadh Season Cup against a team made up of players from Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal, including Cristiano. The match ended in a 5-4 victory for the French team with a goal from Messi, while the Portuguese striker netted twice.
