This summer Manchester United and Manchester City were after attacking players. The coaches of both teams, Erik Ten Hag and Pep Guardiola, believed they needed to add talented players to help raise the team's level. That's why the Red Devils signed Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund, while the Citizens bought Jeremy Doku.

But now information has come to light about a situation involving both clubs and one of Europe's biggest stars. Former Portuguese player Paulo Futre gave an interview to Cadena Ser and revealed that Manchester United and Manchester City rejected Joao Felix this summer.

The forward had returned to Atlético Madrid after a 6-month loan at Chelsea. Los Colchoneros' coach, Diego Simeone, had no interest in him staying with them, and so the club sought to negotiate his departure. Finally, on the last day of the transfer window, Barcelona agreed to sign him on a one-year loan. But things could have been very different.

Futre revealed that he spoke on the phone with Jorge Mendes, Felix's agent, and said: "He told me that he had spoken to Manchester United. Later he had spoken with Manchester City. They didn't want Joao. It is not normal that phenomenal coaches knew that Joao was a genius but nobody wanted him. Neither Arteta, nor Guardiola, nor Klopp, any club. My question is why? The only team that has wanted him has been Aston Villa".

Things worked out well for him

Joao Felix refused to go to Aston Villa and did his best to get to Barcelona. He even gave up most of his salary for that. And it seems that the decision was right, because in his first 4 games with the Catalan side he has had very good performances. There he scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists.
