This Saturday Paris Saint-Germain will kick off the 2023/24 season when they play their first match in Ligue 1 against Lorient at the Parc des Princes. This will be Luis Enrique's official debut as coach of a completely revamped team compared to previous years. Gone are some stars like Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos, while others like Neymar, Marco Verratti and Kylian Mbappé could follow suit.

At the same time, there are many players who have joined this summer: goalkeeper Arnau Tenas; defenders Lucas Hernandez, Ndour Cher, Milan Skriniar; midfielders Manuel Ugarte and Kang-In Lee and forwards Marco Asensio and Goncalo Ramos.

However, the issue that continues to attract everyone's attention is the conflict between PSG and Kylian Mbappé. The striker has been training for two weeks alongside the players who are not taken into account and the situation does not seem to be close to being resolved. But Luis Enrique still holds out hope that things will change.

This is what he said at the press conference he gave this Friday, when he said: "It is an issue that has happened in the past and that was resolved in a positive way when I was not yet here. I hope it happens like in the past and that PSG and the player reach an agreement, that's what I would like. But there is no one above the club, the philosophy is very clear". It is thus clear that Luis Enrique wants to include Mbappé in the team, but he will not be able to do so as long as Nasser Al-Khelaifi does not allow him to do so.

Not the only conflict

Luis Enrique was also asked about the situation of Verratti and Neymar, but in this case he was not direct with his answer: "I keep private what I told them. I prefer to keep it a secret. My words say things, but my deeds say more".
