Lionel Messi's message to Neymar after his serious injury confirmed

Last Tuesday the Brazilian National Team lost 2-0 against Uruguay at the Centenario stadium in Montevideo thanks to goals from Darwin Nuñez and Nicolás De La Cruz. But that was not the worst news for Fernando Diniz's team. During the last minutes of the first half, Neymar Jr. felt a strong pain in his left knee, was checked by the Brazilian medical team and finally left the field to be replaced by Richarlison.

The Al-Hilal player's gestures of pain and the words of Dr. Rodrigo Lasnar caused concern among fans around the world, who feared a serious injury. And that sadly was confirmed in the last hours: Ney suffered a rupture of cruciate ligaments and meniscus of his left knee, so he will have to undergo surgery and will be out of the field for a long time.

Many players, coaches, journalists and fans from all over the world sent messages of support to the forward after hearing the news. One of them was Lionel Messi. The Argentine player was Ney's teammate at Barcelona, between 2013 and 2017, and then at Paris Saint-Germain, between 2021 and 2023, and they have a great relationship.

Leo posted a picture on his official Instagram account with a black and white image of him and Neymar hugging, when they were teammates at Barcelona during the 2014/15 season. In addition to the photo, the Argentine player wrote "Mucha fuerza @neymarjr!".

When will he be back?

Neymar's injury is one of the most serious that an athlete can suffer. Once he undergoes surgery, he will begin a long recovery period that will last between 6 and 8 months. This means that he will surely miss the whole season with Al-Hilal, while with the Brazil national team it is unlikely that he will be able to play in the Copa America 2024, which will start in June.
