Last Sunday Barcelona got an important 2-1 win against Alaves at the Estadio Olimpico Lluis Companys in Montjuic and were able to recover from the tough defeat against Shakhtar Donetsk in Champions League. Things had not started well for them, as after 20 seconds Samu scored the opener for the visitors and the team during the first half did not show a good level. But after the break Robert Lewandowski solved all their problems with two goals that gave them the victory.
However, the Polish striker was in the news lately not because of his goals but because of something that happened on the field. On a play during the second half, Lamine Yamal decided to shoot at the goal instead of sending a cross to the box, where Lewandowski was waiting. He didn't like this and his reaction was excessively rough, with shouting at his teammate. And that was not all, as moments later Yamal came over to shake his hand and Robert ignored him.
Many journalists and also former Barcelona players spoke on social media and TV shows about this, saying that the center-forward had had an exaggerated reaction unbecoming of a leader. This forced him to clarify the situation during the press conference he gave this Monday in Poland.
"It was an anecdote. It's normal that sometimes you say something on the field or shout something for someone to hear you. There is no subtext or meaning. There is nothing worth commenting on," Lewandowski began. He then added: “As for my relationship with Lamine, I talk to him many times during the game, I help him and give him advice”.
At the international break in November, the Polish national team will play its last match in Group E of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. They will have a difficult mission there: they need to beat Czech Republic and hope that the other results are favorable for them, as they will then have an off day. This means that they do not depend on themselves for a place in the tournament to be played next summer in Germany.
