Inter Milan were very close to winning the Champions League for the fourth time in their history. They won the title in 1964, 1965 and 2010, but could not do it in 2023, as they lost the final against Manchester City 1-0 in Istanbul. This caused great pain to the players, staff and fans, but it has also fueled their thirst for revenge.

This Wednesday they will start a new journey when they face Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena stadium in San Sebastian. It will not be an easy match, as the Spanish side have had a great performance in the last La Liga season and have maintained that level at the start of this new tournament. In fact, last Sunday they played a good game against Real Madrid and lost 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

Real Sociedad and Inter are in Group B of the Champions League, one of the most difficult and evenly matched groups of the tournament. The other rivals are Benfica from Portugal, who last season had a great performance and reached the quarterfinals, and RB Salzburg, the last champions of the Austrian Bundesliga. These two teams will also meet on Wednesday at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.

Coach Imanol Alguacil decided that Real Sociedad's XI will be: Álex Remiro; Hamari Traore, Igor Zubeldia, Robin Le Normand, Kieran Tierney; Martín Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, Brais Mendez; Mikel Oyarzabal, Ander Barrenetxea, Takefusa Kubo.

All their stars will play

Inter played last Saturday a key match in Serie A, the derby against AC Milan, and got a great 5-1 victory showing a high level and being far superior to their rivals. Despite the short rest time, manager Simone Inzaghi will repeat most of the players of the starting line-up: Yann Sommer; Benjamin Pavard, Stefan De Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni; Denzel Dumfries, Nicoló Barella, Hrnrij Mkhitaryan, Carlos Augusto, Kristjan Asllani; Marco Arnautovic, Lautaro Martínez.
