There are less than two weeks left until the close of the transfer window in Europe and clubs are in negotiations to sign the last players for the 2023/24 season. Bayern Munich are one of them, as coach Thomas Tuchel believes the squad still lacks a goalkeeper to replace the injured Manuel Neuer and a holding midfielder with different characteristics to Joshua Kimmich.
But the German side are not only thinking about signing players, but also in getting rid of others who do not have too much participation in the team. This is the case of Benjamin Pavard. The defender was world champion with the France National Team in Russia 2018 and has been playing in the Bundesliga since 2016, when he arrived in Stuttgart from Lille.
In 2019 Bayern Munich bought him and since then he has played 163 games. However, in recent seasons his performances were not up to expectations and he lost his place in the team. In fact, he was on the bench in Friday's game against Werder Bremen.
That's why his departure from Germany this summer is very possible. Manchester United sought him a few weeks ago, as coach Erik Ten Hag was interested in his versatility of being able to play as a right-back or centre-back. However, now the main favorites to sign him are Inter. According to Marca, the Italian side offered $20 million for him, but Bayern Munich turned it down and now the transfer could be agreed for $25 million.
This Saturday, August 19, Inter will play their first official match of the 2023/24 Serie A season at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium against Monza. The day before the match, manager Simone Inzaghi gave a press conference in which he was asked about the possible signing of the French defender and said: "Yes, Pavard is part of our list of targets, he is not the only player".
