This Sunday Real Madrid will face Cadiz and will try to get a victory that will allow them to be, at least for a few hours, the only leaders of the La Liga standings. They are currently second with 32 points, two less than Girona, who will face Athletic Bilbao on Monday. Therefore, if Los Merengues win, the pressure will be on Girona, who will be obliged to get a win to regain their place.

As usual the day before each match, boss Carlo Ancelotti held a press conference in which he answered questions from journalists on different topics. The first questions were related to the team's performance in recent weeks, the particular situation of some players and the analysis of the next match.

About his team, Ancelotti said: "We have had injuries that have hurt us, but the squad is well conceived. We have been competitive despite the absences. The squad is fine and we can hang in there with these problems. The squad gives me a lot of confidence. It's an opportunity to show how good we are".

However, he was then asked about his future. It has been known for months that the Brazilian National Team are interested in hiring him from next summer and there have even been conversations. On this, the coach said: "I am proud that they are talking about me in Brazil. We will know something soon". But then he clarified: "I will wait for Real Madrid until the last day".

What does this mean?

Ancelotti's words may cause concern in Brazil. By assuring that he will wait for Real Madrid, it means that perhaps his priority is to continue there and, in case Florentino Perez makes him a renewal offer, he will accept to stay after the end of the season. If that happens, the South American team will have to look for another coach to face the Copa America 2024.
