Toni Kroos is one of the best midfielders of this century. Over the last decade he has shone at Bayern Munich and then at Real Madrid, earning the respect and admiration of fans around the world thanks to his talent and intelligence on the pitch. He is also one of the most successful players of his generation, having won 30 titles so far in his professional career, including one Champions League with the Bavarian team and four with Los Merengues.

And not only that, he was also a star of the German national team for more than 10 years. He made his debut there in 2010 and participated in three World Cups (South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018) and three Euros. He was World Cup champion in 2014, being a key part of that memorable team of Joachim Low. But after the failures at the 2018 World Cup and Euro 2021, he decided to retire at the age of just 31.

However, two years later he could change his mind. For some weeks now, it has been rumored that Toni is considering a return to the German National Team to play the Euro 2024 that will be held precisely in his country next summer.

Still one of the best midfielders in the world with Real Madrid, many believed that this would be welcome news in Germany, but it has not been the case. Many believe that Kroos' time in the team has passed and that his return will not be a help but a problem. German legend Lothar Matthaus said: "If Toni Kroos could play at full-back, that's fine, but the German team needs the least in midfield. He is also no clearer in front of the defense, but if Nagelsmann suddenly sees Kroos as the holding midfielder, there will be a lot of discussion again."

The least expected advice

Former player Markus Babbel also gave his opinion on this topic and assured that if he were Toni Kroos "I would renounce insults and disgrace and stay at home in Madrid". However, he also acknowledged that "Toni can perform very well".
