Luis Enrique arrived this summer at Paris Saint-Germain with a difficult mission: to win the Champions League, something that no one at the club has ever achieved before. In fact, failures against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the last two years cost the previous coaches, Mauricio Pochettino and Christophe Galtier, respectively, their jobs.

But things did not start well this season for the Parisian team. In Ligue 1 they have had irregular performances, with good wins like the 4-0 derby win over Olympique Marseille and forgettable matches like the 0-0 draw against Clermont, the bottom of the standings. And in the Champions League they beat Borussia Dortmund but suffered a tough 4-1 defeat against Newcastle.

With this scenario, this Saturday, October 21, they will play at the Parc des Princes against RC Strasbourg, looking for a victory that will allow them to get closer to AS Monaco and Nice. As usual, the day before the match, coach Luis Enrique gave a press conference and said: "Of course we need to work on everything. I'm even happy with the game we lost against Newcastle. I think the team is improving. I can't tell you how far we are. We are in a state of improvement and that is my perception".

Was that ironic?

The Spanish manager was then asked about his relationship with the press, since in recent weeks he has been harshly criticized for his decisions. On this, he said: "I love talking to journalists. The problem is that I see that there are less and less of you at press conferences. It's my job. I enjoy interviews, I enjoy press conferences, on the field as a coach, especially when I win. When I lose it's different. Like all coaches, I feel good. I try to give you the same affection depending on the questions. If you ask me in a nice way, I will answer you in a nice way".
