Arsenal have a clear objective this season: to be Premier League champions after more than 20 years. In the previous season they came very close, as they finished second behind Manchester City. But that was not enough for them and so now they will do their best to make things different.
Mikel Arteta's side became leaders of the table last week when they beat Brentford 1-0 with a last-minute goal from Kai Havertz and took advantage of the draw between Manchester City and Liverpool. But now it is they who are under pressure to stay at the top.
This Saturday they will face Wolverhampton at Emirates Stadium, in what will be the first match of the 14th Premier League matchday. The Gunners have had just three days off since the 6-0 win over Lens in the Champions League last Wednesday, but the great performance they showed and the huge difference they got on the scoreboard allowed them to conserve energy.
Coach Arteta decided that most of the squad's stars will be part of the starting lineup this Saturday. Arsenal's XI will be: David Raya; Takehiro Tomiyasu, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Oleksandr Zinchenko; Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, Leandro Trossard; Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli. On the bench will be Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, Jakub Kiwior, Cedric Soares, Mohamed Elneny, Kai Havertz, Jorginho, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah.
Wolverhampton have not had a great start to the season. At the moment they are in 12th place in the Premier League standings with 15 points. While they are not at risk of relegation because they have a 10-point lead over Sheffield United, they are also far from qualifying for international tournaments. That is why they need to win this Saturday to get closer. Coach Gary O'Neil chose this XI: Jose Sa; Max Kilman, Craig Dawson, Toti, Nelson Semedo, Jean Ricner Bellegarde, Tommy Doyle, Hugo Bueno, Boubacar Traore, Hwang Hee-Chan, Matheus Cunha.
