Real Madrid are one of the most important teams in the world. They have dominated Europe for decades and have won more Champions League titles than anyone else: 14, twice as many as the second most successful, Milan. This has given them prestige and made fans all over the world watch every game they play, eager to see the team's stars.
For this reason, Los Merengues usually sign players who stand out in Europe's top leagues. Many times these signings give good results, but in other cases they cause great disappointments and make them lose a lot of money. The latter is what happened with Eden Hazard.
The midfielder arrived in Madrid in 2019, in exchange for more than $100 million. A year earlier, he had shone with the Belgium National Team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, reaching the semifinals and being considered by many as the best player of the tournament. Also at his club, Chelsea, he had had great performances. However, his 4 years in Spain were very bad, as injuries and the low level he showed made him lose his place in the team.
Therefore, at the beginning of June this year the side and the player agreed on the termination of the contract. Since then Hazard is a free agent and can sign for any club he wants, but so far he has not done so. He has had offers from RWD Molenbeek of Belgium, where his brother Kylian plays, and Major League Soccer, but has turned them down.
According to the newspaper As, the player intends to continue living in Madrid, so if he does not receive an offer from one of the clubs in that region (Atlético Madrid, Getafe or Rayo Vallecano), he could decide to retire from soccer at the age of 32.
