This Saturday Sevilla and Real Madrid played a very important match in La Liga. It was at the Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium and ended with a 1-1 draw due to David Alaba's own goal and Dani Carvajal's equaliser. However, the situations that attracted the most attention had nothing to do with the result or the teams' performances.
Vinicius Junior was once again a victim of racism. During last season he had had problems in a match against Valencia and now things were repeated at the Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium. During the match at least two Sevilla fans made gestures to him imitating a monkey. One of them was identified by security agents and expelled from the stadium, but the other, a child, got away with it.
However, some in Seville believe that the Brazilian winger also had reprehensible attitudes. Former player Antoñito gave an interview to Sevilla's official channel and said: "It is true that there are things that have been done to him that have no justification, that are reprehensible, but we should not give him the peace prize either. He also has his things, eh? He also provokes, he looks at the stands... you can't justify everything to Vinicíus".
And then he added: "Let them talk more about Vinicius. What happened today is regrettable, we shouldn't give him the Nobel Peace Prize. Does Vinicius have free rein here in what he does? We should not allow that either. From Madrid they are also wrong if they protect him in such a way".
Vinicius posted a message on social media after the match and said: “The face of today's racist is plastered on websites as on many other occasions. I hope the Spanish authorities do their part and change the legislation once and for all. These people should also be criminally punished.”
