This week everyone was shocked by the news of Ousmane Dembélé's possible departure. The French winger was one of Barcelona's most outstanding players during the last season and had assured more than once that his intention was to stay in Catalunya, but Paris Saint-Germain appeared and changed everything. It is a fact that the player will be transferred in the next few days in exchange for $50 million, an amount that does not satisfy Los Blaugranas.

This generated enormous concern for coach Xavi Hernandez, who publicly acknowledged being "disappointed" with Dembele's decision. It also caused him an unexpected problem, as he will now have to look for a high-level, low-priced winger to join the team in this transfer window.

However, Joan Laporta has more important concerns. The Barcelona president's plan was to tackle the club's financial problems through the sale of 16% of Barça Studios, a production company that brings together Barcelona's audiovisual offerings and includes the Barça TV channel, the Barça TV+ streaming platform and various social media operations. This would allow it to receive almost $60 million.

However, this plan could fail. According to TV3, the German investment fund that was going to buy 16% of Barça Studios is thinking of backing out of the deal. This was bad news for Laporta, who now decided to take charge of negotiating himself to try to reach an agreement and meet the objectives set.

Why is it so important?

Barcelona urgently need to get the deal and receive the $60 million, as it is part of the viability plan they presented to La Liga a few weeks ago. If they cannot fulfill it, they could have problems signing not only the players who arrived this summer (Iñigo Martinez, Oriol Romeu and Ilkay Gundogan), but also those whose contracts were recently renewed.
