Everything is going well for Real Madrid lately. The start of the 2023/24 season has been almost perfect: they are leaders of the La Liga standings along with Girona, last weekend they beat Barcelona in the first 'Clasico' of the season and in Champions League they lead Group C with three wins in three games.
With this scenario, it is much easier to think about the future and make good decisions. Last Tuesday they announced the renewal of Vinicius Junior's contract until 2027, with a significant salary increase and an exit clause of $1 billion, an impossible figure for any club in the world to pay.
But he is not the only one. This Thursday, the agreement with Rodrygo Goes was made official. The Brazilian forward had a contract until June 30, 2025 and so for weeks they had been negotiating an extension with his agents. They quickly came to an agreement and signed a new contract until 2028, also with a salary increase and an exit clause of $1 billion.
Rodrygo arrived at Real Madrid in 2019 from Santos and, although in his first few years he struggled to earn a place in the team, little by little his level grew until he became a key player. Since then he has played 178 games, scored 38 goals and provided 30 assists. His moment of glory was in the 2021/22 Champions League, when he scored two goals against Manchester City and helped his team qualify to the final, in which they beat Liverpool 1-0.
For some years Real Madrid have been putting together a team of young players. That's why they agreed with Vinicius, Rodrygo, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Jude Bellingham long-term contracts and $1 billion exit clauses. And according to reports, they will soon announce the renewals of Federico Valverde, Eder Militao and Eduardo Camavinga.
