Chelsea couldn't beat Bournemouth and fans mock these $150 million signings

Mauricio Pochettino's side have had disappointing performances.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have had disappointing performances.

Chelsea have had a poor start to the 2023/24 Premier League season. In their first five games they have only managed one win (against Luton Town, the worst team in the competition), drawn twice and lost two games. This Sunday they missed a chance to get closer to the top of the table, as they failed to beat Bournemouth.

The Blues proved to be better than their opponents, dominated the ball for most of the 90 minutes and created many dangerous chances, but failed in the most important decisions and suffered from the lack of accuracy of their attackers. As a result, they barely managed a disappointing 0-0 draw at the Vitality Stadium.

The team's fans, as well as others watching the match, were surprised by an absurd situation involving Nicolas Jackson. The Senegalese striker joined Chelsea this summer for $40 million, but his performances have been far from what was expected. And this Sunday he missed several chances to score, most notably one in which he attempted a shot with his left foot and sent the ball well wide of the goal, prompting jeers on social media.

Another player targeted was Mykhailo Mudryk. The Blues paid $108 million for him in January this year, but his level has not satisfied the fans, who still regret that the club spent so much money on him. In 21 games on the English side he has yet to score goals and provided only 2 assists.

They need to win

Chelsea will play their next game in the Premier League 2023/24 on Sunday, September 24. It will be at Stamford Bridge against Aston Villa, who have performed well at the start of the season and took 9 points out of a possible 15. Coach Pochettino will wait for the recovery of important players who are injured, such as Moises Caicedo and Reece James.
