This season Real Madrid have had excellent performances on the field. In La Liga they have won almost every game they have played and are in second place in the standings with 32 points, only two less than the leaders Girona. And in Champions League they have four wins in a row and have already secured their place in the round of 16, despite the fact that there are still two matches left in Group C.

However, not everything has gone well for them. Throughout the season they have had serious problems with injuries to important players. Some of them were knee injuries, such as those of Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, who had to undergo surgery and will not play again until 2024, and others muscular, such as that of Vinicius at the start of the tournament.

But there were some other cases that caused conflicts within the club. One was that of Arda Guler. The Turkish midfielder suffered a meniscus injury during the preseason and the doctor Niko Mihic at first considered that the most convenient thing to do was not to perform surgery on him, but after several weeks another doctor, Leyes, imposed the opposite opinion.

Since then Guler has tried to return to the field, but suffered two muscle injuries in a row. And something similar happened with Dani Ceballos and David Alaba. These situations accumulated and resulted in conflicts between physical trainers, physiotherapists and doctors. That's why president Florentino Pérez was forced to make a decision.

What did he decide?

According to the Marca newspaper, Real Madrid opted to fire the doctor Niko Mihic, as they were not satisfied with some of his recent decisions. He had been working at the Spanish side for almost seven years, as he arrived in 2017 to replace Dr. Olmo. Mihic was close to some Croatian players who spent time at La Casa Blanca, such as Mateo Kovacic and Luka Modric.
