The Portuguese striker is the highest paid player in the world, but he is in serious trouble.

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most successful players of all time. No one has scored as many goals as him (more than 850 between Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Al-Nassr and the Portugal national team), in addition to winning the Ballon d'Or award 5 times as the best player in the world. It is therefore logical that he is the highest paid player on the planet: his salary in Saudi Arabia is more than $200 million per season.

All this has also allowed him to become a star that transcends soccer. He is a celebrity and millions of people around the world are interested in his lifestyle, his relationship with Argentine businesswoman Georgina Rodriguez and the luxuries he enjoys. However, not everything that happens to him is good news. This week details emerged of a serious problem facing CR7 that could cost him a fortune.

A lawsuit was filed in the Southern District Court of Florida, alleging that Cristiano Ronaldo "promoted, assisted and/or actively participated in the offer and sale of unregistered securities." This is related to Binance. Some individuals sued the financial firm, arguing that they made trades "after being exposed to some or all of the defendant's misrepresentations and omissions with respect to the Binance platforms."

The Portuguese striker had made a deal with the company in 2022, while he was a Manchester United player, for the promotion of NFTs with his image that were sold to the public. So now some are blaming him for the money losses they suffered.

How much could it cost him?

According to reports, the plaintiffs are claiming damages "in excess of $1 billion, excluding interest and costs." If thing go wrong in court, Cristiano Ronaldo could be in serious trouble and lose a fortune as a result.
