There are still more than two months to go before the January transfer window opens in Europe, when clubs will be able to add some players to raise the level of the team and compete in the decisive stages of leagues, cups and international tournaments. But most transfers take place during the summer. There, teams have no restrictions to add as many players as they consider necessary.
That's why during the rest of the year the chiefs and coaches work to choose the targets they will go for in the summer. And that is precisely what is happening in England. According to Calciomercato, Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in one of Italy's best defenders: Alessandro Bastoni.
The 24-year-old is one of the stars of Inter. He arrived there in 2019 after excelling at Atalanta and Parma. Since then he has played 173 games and won 5 titles. His strength and intelligence have impressed fans, in addition to his physical qualities (he is 6'3'' and left-footed). All this has allowed him to reach the Italy National Team, with which he was Euro 2021 champion.
Bastoni was already targeted by other English teams in the past, such as Tottenham. When Antonio Conte was the coach of Spurs, they tried to sign him, but he preferred to stay at Inter. In fact, this summer he renewed his contract with the Italian club until June 30, 2028. And according to reports, they won't let him leave for less than $70 million.
Alessandro Bastoni played for the Italian National Team at Wembley Stadium last week, in the match against England for the Euro 2024 qualifiers. There he had a difficult task, as he had to defend Harry Kane. And it didn't go well: the Bayern Munich striker scored two goals and helped his team to win 3-1.
