During the last few weeks Xavi Hernandez was targeted by fans and the press as the main responsible for Barcelona's failures in Champions League and La Liga. In the European tournament they advanced to the round of 16 as group H leaders, but lost two of their last three matches against Shakhtar Donetsk and Royal Antwerp. And in the Spanish league they suffered heavy defeats in the two most important matches of the season, against Real Madrid and Girona.
That is why this week boss Xavi, during a press conference, assured that Barcelona is the most complicated club to work for, as the demand week after week is enormous and every defeat is magnified.
This Saturday Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid's coach spoke to the press before the match against Villarreal. There he was asked about what Xavi had said and shocked everyone with his answer: “The judgment of the coach is the result, nobody cares about his method, his ability to manage the players, it only depends on whether he wins or not and we have to accept it. Xavi knows this”.
However, he then praised his colleague and said: "He is a good coach and knows how to handle this. I can't say which team is the most complicated. In general it is quite normal for a coach to have criticism and we have to accept it. The coach can say if it's fair or not."
Against Villarreal, Real Madrid will have the opportunity to regain the lead in the standings, as Girona will play on Monday. About this match, Ancelotti said: "We play against a well-prepared team but we are in a good moment, good dynamics, with motivated players and we want to finish this year well".
