One of Barcelona's objectives this summer, in addition to signing players to help raise the team's level to compete in the Champions League, is to get rid of those that coach Xavi Hernandez does not consider a priority. In this way, they intend to lower the total amount of salaries and comply with the viability plan they presented to La Liga weeks ago.

Samuel Umtiti was the first to leave, agreeing to the termination of his contract and becoming a free agent to join Lille. Franck Kessie will follow suit, as he will undergo medicals in the coming hours and agree to join Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia.

But there is one player who has not yet resolved his situation and in Barcelona they are anxiously awaiting his departure: Clement Lenglet. The French defender arrived in 2018 in exchange for almost $40 million, but his performance was never convincing and he was loaned to Tottenham last season. There he recovered his level, but this did not change Xavi's opinion, who does not want to have him in his team.

Now Joan Laporta is trying to find him a way out and several clubs have appeared interested. The first of them is Tottenham, who want to have him back, which coincides with the player's desire. However, they are not willing to pay the €15 million that Barcelona are looking for. And another side that have asked for him are Napoli, who need a replacement for Kim Min-Jae, transferred to Bayern Munich. The problem is that the Italians cannot make an offer that meets Laporta's expectations, and the player's salary is very high.

They can afford it

The team that are willing to pay what Barcelona are asking for is Al-Nassr. Their intention is to put together a top level squad to accompany Cristiano Ronaldo and that is why they have added stars like Sadio Mane and Marcelo Brozovic. The problem is that Lenglet does not seem to be interested in playing in Saudi Arabia.
