Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are competing for this forgotten Man United star

Manchester United have made a lot of bad decisions lately and it shows. The signings they have made in recent seasons have not produced the expected results, such as the purchases of Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund this summer. That, along with other factors, made the team underperform and they were quickly eliminated from the Champions League and far behind leaders Liverpool in the Premier League.

One of the decisions that has now been proven wrong was to let Mason Greenwood go. The English forward was sidelined for a year and a half while allegations of domestic violence against his girlfriend were investigated. Although the charges were dropped, Manchester United chiefs decided that it was in the player's best interest to continue his professional career at another club.

So they loaned him out on a season-long loan to Getafe. And in Spain Mason showed all his talent, with 4 goals and 3 assists in 13 games in La Liga. This made the Spanish side decide to keep him beyond June 30, 2024, as assured by president Angel Corres.

But Getafe are not the only ones interested in him. According to The Sun, Valencia and Real Sociedad targeted him, as well as Lazio. In fact, Italian media reported that the club's president is "obsessed" with Greenwood and they may try to sign him in the January transfer window.

Two giants are interested

Getafe, Valencia, Real Sociedad and Lazio will be in trouble if it is confirmed that there are two other clubs interested in Mason Greenwood. talkSPORT reports that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are also impressed by the English forward's performances this term in La Liga and could make an offer to Manchester United for him. In that case, they would undoubtedly be more tempting destinations for Mason.
