Finally it was confirmed a news that circulated as a rumor around the world for months. Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid to coach the Brazilian National Team. Fortunately for the Spanish team, this will only take place next year, when the 2023/24 season ends in Europe and the South American team is preparing for the Copa America to be played in the United States.

This will give Florentino Perez the possibility to take the necessary time to choose the best possible coach. The club's president knows that Ancelotti is one of the best in the world and his replacement will have to be up to the task, as the club always starts each season with the aim of winning the La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League titles.

The main favorite seems to be Xabi Alonso. The former Spanish player knows Real Madrid well after playing there between 2009 and 2015, being part of the team that conquered Europe in 2014 alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. He is currently the coach of Bayer Leverkusen. There he managed 37 games during the last season, finished in sixth place in the Bundesliga and reached the semifinals of the Europa League.

Another option for Los Merengues is Zinedine Zidane, who shone as a player at the club and then returned to lead the team between 2015 and 2021. The Frenchman had a successful spell at La Casa Blanca, winning 3 Champions League titles.

Unusual decision

While waiting for Carlo Ancelotti to finish the 2023/24 season with Real Madrid, the Brazil National Team will have a temporary coach: it is Fernando Diniz, who will manage until June 2024. The curious thing is that, in the meantime, he will also work at Fluminense.
