This Wednesday the last international matches of 2023 were played. There will be no more international breaks this year and the next one will be in March 2024. Each Confederation has its own calendars. In South America, for example, the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup are already being played, while in Europe they have so far competed for the qualifiers for Euro 2024.

The continent's most important tournament will be held next summer in Germany, between June 14 and July 14 in the cities of Berlin, Munich, Dortmund, Stuttgart, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Leipzig, Cologne and Frankfurt.

A total of 24 teams will take part. The first to qualify were the hosts, who did not take part in the qualifying rounds as they had already secured their place. And now another 20 teams have been confirmed: the winners of each of the knockout groups, as well as the second-place finishers.

They are: in group A Spain and Scotland; in group B France and Netherlands; in group C England and Italy; in group D Turkey and Croatia; in group E Albania and Czech Republic; in group F Belgium and Austria; in group G Hungary and Serbia; in group H Denmark and Slovenia; in group I Romania and Switzerland; in group J Portugal and Slovakia.

Who are the remaining teams?

Once this first stage of the qualifiers is over, three more places for Euro 2024 are still to be decided. Starting in March, the playoffs will be played to determine these three teams. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Wales, Israel, Poland, Finland, Iceland, Ukraine, Georgia, Greece, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg and Estonia have secured their places. These teams will be divided into three zones, facing each other until the winner of each zone is selected, who will join the other 21 qualified teams to play in the tournament starting on June 14.
