The Argentine star arrived in Beijing alongside his teammates Ángel Di María, Rodrigo De Paul, Leandro Paredes, Gio Lo Celso, Enzo Fernández, and Nahuel Molina to face Australia in a friendly match scheduled for June 15. However, Messi had to deal with an unexpected situation upon arriving in the Chinese capital.
As soon as Messi set foot on Chinese soil, he was greeted by a crowd of fans at Beijing International Airport. The number of people waiting for him was so large that the players had to wait for a security cordon to be established before they could proceed. However, just when it seemed like everything was in order, an issue arose.
Once he managed to pass through the crowd, Messi was detained by immigration agents due to a problem with his passport, which caused a delay of approximately half an hour.
Fortunately, Pepe Costa, his trusted person who accompanies him on all trips with the national team, was by his side to help resolve the situation without major complications, and they finally headed to the hotel where the Argentine National Team will be staying.
According to TN, Messi had his Spanish passport with him, but the immigration records stated that he would enter the country with his Argentine documents. These types of situations often occur when the immigration departments of each country send lists with the passport details of visiting team members. In this case, as Messi was carrying his Spanish passport but appeared in the records as if he were using the Argentine one, it was necessary to verify his documentation to resolve the situation.
