Iconic French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has reportedly requested to leave Tottenham after 10 seasons with the London club, marking the end of an era in his career. Despite having one year remaining on his contract, Lloris expressed his desire to seek new challenges at the end of the current season.
Since his arrival in the 2012-2013 season, Lloris established himself as one of the best goalkeepers of his time but failed to conquer any titles with the English team, with the notable defeat in the UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool in the 2018-2019 season.
With one year left on his contract, the French goalkeeper mentioned that he is looking for new horizons and will carefully analyze his next destination in football. Finding a replacement for the World Cup champion will be a monumental challenge for Tottenham, as finding a goalkeeper with similar characteristics to Lloris will not be an easy task.
Lloris, who recently was the runner-up in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, losing in the final against Argentina in a penalty shootout, wishes to seek one last challenge before announcing his retirement from football, after recently announcing his retirement from the French national team.
During his time in London, Hugo Lloris played 423 matches, conceding a total of 349 goals, while in the current season, he kept a clean sheet in 7 out of 25 games, conceding an average of 1.4 goals per game. Now we will have to wait and see which team will be the new destination for the French goalkeeper.
