The England National Team achieved their goal: they secured their place in the Euro 2024 to be played next summer in Germany. And they did it without any problems, as there are still two games to go until the end of the qualifiers. Therefore, during the international break in November, the matches against Malta and Macedonia will be just a formality for them.
This Tuesday in London they got an important 3-1 win against Italy thanks to goals from Harry Kane, twice, and Marcus Rashford. The result is even more creditable for The Three Lions considering they had not started the match well, as after 15 minutes Gianluca Scamacca scored the opener for the visitors. But at 32 minutes Kane, from the spot, netted the equaliser.
And in the second half Gareth Southgate's team proved to be better than their opponents and made the difference. After 12 minutes, Jude Bellingham recovered the ball near the English box, ran many yards with it and assisted Marcus Rashford, who entered the box dribbling rival defenders and scored the second goal with a strong right-footed shot.
And with 13 minutes to go whistle, Harry Kane netted another beautiful goal: he disputed the position with Alessandro Bastoni, with a soft touch he dribbled Giorgio Scalvini and, face to face with Gianluigi Donnarumma, he had the patience to wait for the goalkeeper to move and shoot.
With the 3-1 victory, England secured their place at Euro 2024 and so the fans celebrated at Wembley Stadium. But for Italy things are completely different. They are now in third place in the Group C standings with 10 points, 3 points behind Ukraine, who beat Malta 3-1. The good news for Luciano Spaletti's team is that they have played one game less than their rivals, and that in the international break in November they have to face them.
