Bayern Munich's 2022/23 season was not a good one. Despite winning the Bundesliga title for the 11th consecutive time, the team's results and performance did not live up to expectations. In fact, in the Champions League they were easily eliminated by Manchester City in the quarterfinals.
And that was not all. They also had internal conflicts that made everything even more difficult. Coach Julian Nagelsmann was fired in the middle of the season due to differences with the club's chiefs, which had a negative impact on the team's level. And there were problems among the players, such as Sadio Mane's assault on Leroy Sane that led to a club sanction for the Senegalese winger.
The new coach, Thomas Tuchel, arrived with the mission to solve the problems and get the team back to being one of the best in Europe. But he has encountered many difficulties. His main desire is the recruitment of a striker, as he considers that there is no player in the squad with the necessary characteristics and level. Harry Kane is the target, but negotiations with Tottenham have been difficult and every offer they have made has been rejected.
And now there’s another unexpected problem: the departure of Yann Sommer. The Swiss player arrived this year to replace Manuel Neuer, who suffered a serious knee injury while skiing. However, he now decided to leave to play for Inter and left Tuchel with a serious problem, as he does not have a top goalkeeper who can play until Neuer recovers.
According to Calcio Mercato, Sommer underwent medicals and will sign his contract with Inter in the next few hours. The Italian side needed to add a goalkeeper after the sale of André Onana, who left for Manchester United for $60 million.
