Joseph Mourinho is undoubtedly one of the most successful and respected coaches in the world. Over a career spanning more than two decades, the Portuguese has managed to gain prestige and notoriety to the point of sitting on the bench of Europe's top clubs.

After starting his career as Bobby Robson's assistant at Barcelona, Mourinho had his first big challenge when he arrived at Porto to manage the team in 2002, winning the UEFA Cup and the Champions League. He was then hired by Chelsea, where he won the Premier League twice, which allowed him to make the jump to Real Madrid in 2010.

He would later win another Champions League with Inter and a UEFA Europa League with Manchester United, until arriving at AS Roma in 2021. At the Italian capital team, he was also an international champion, after winning the UEFA Conference League in 2022.

Mourinho's success and fame attracted the interest of one of the most important teams in the Saudi Pro League: Al-Hilal. After finishing third in the last season, they aim to add stars to crown themselves champions and offered $30 million per year to the coach.

The Portuguese's response

So many years as a top-level coach have given José Mourinho the chance to give up money and prioritize sporting challenges. That is precisely what the Portuguese did, who decided to reject the impressive offer from Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal and continue to coach AS Roma with the aim of improving on last season's performance.
