José Mourinho has been one of the best managers in the world for more than two decades. He has worked at top clubs in Europe and with most of them he has achieved good results. In fact, he won the Champions League with Porto (2004) and Inter (2010), two teams that have not been used to that kind of success. In addition, he was Premier League champion with Chelsea and UEFA Europa League champion with Manchester United.
Positive results have also accompanied him at his current team, AS Roma. There he won the 2021/2022 Conference League and lost the 2022/23 Europa League on penalties against Sevilla. Now they are preparing to start a new Serie A season, where they will debut on Sunday, August 20 against Salernitana.
While working with the aim of improving the team to compete with the most important clubs in Italy, Mou received great news and he himself was in charge of announcing it in an interview with Corriere dello Sport: "Paulo Dybala's release clause has expired on August 1, so I can finally sleep well and more relaxed".
The coach knows that Dybala is the best player in his team and that is why he is celebrating the news. The forward, world champion with Argentina at Qatar 2022, had a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave if any club offered to pay Roma €12 million, a really low amount for a player of his quality. However, with the deadline for this to happen having passed, there is now no longer any doubt that Paulo will continue with the Italian team.
In the same interview, the coach said that he had a chance to go to Saudi Arabia: "I received offers from Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli. I called Rome before meeting with them, saying I wasn't going to accept. I felt imprisoned by the promise I made to the players in Budapest (after the final loss to Sevilla).
