This Thursday, many matches will be played for the Euro 2024 qualifiers. The decisive stages are approaching and the teams are under increasing pressure to achieve positive results that will allow them to earn a place in the tournament to be played in Germany next summer.

One of the most closely contested groups is Group A. Scotland are leaders with 15 points, having won all five matches they have played. Second place, which also awards a ticket to Euro 2024, is currently held by Spain, with 9 points and a game in hand. And further back are Erling Haaland's Norway, with 7 points. This means that the results of the two matches to be played in the international break in October could change everything.

Spain know that if they do not get a win this Thursday against Scotland at La Cartuja stadium in Seville, their chances of qualifying for Euro 2024 could be complicated. That is why coach Luis De La Fuente decided to put together a team with all the stars he has at his disposal. The absentees are Pedri, Dani Olmo, Marco Asensio and Lamine Yamal, all of them with physical problems.

Spain's starting lineup will be: Unai Simon; Dani Carvajal, Robin Le Normand, Aymeric Laporte, Alejandro Balde; Rodri, Mikel Merino; Gavi, Mikel Oyarzabal, Ferran Torres, Alvaro Morata. In addition, on the bench will be David Raya, Kepa Arrizabalaga, David Garcia, Pau Torres, Fran Garcia, Jesus Navas, Martin Zubimendi, Bryan Zaragoza, Fabian Ruiz, Oihan Sancet, Joselu and Ansu Fati.

They also need to win

Although Scotland are the leaders of group A for now, they cannot relax. They have next week off, so if they lose this Thursday against Spain, at the end of the international break they could be second in the standings. Coach Steve Clarke chose this XI: Angus Gunn; Aaron Hickey, Scott McKenna, Jack Hendry, Ryan Porteous, Andrew Robertson; Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie; Scott McTominay; John McGinn, Lyndon Dykes.
