The German side need to add a defender and they have already chosen their favorite.

This summer Bayern Munich made the most expensive purchase in Bundesliga history. Coach Thomas Tuchel insisted to the chiefs during the whole preseason about the need to add a top center-forward and they finally listened to him: they paid more than $100 million to Tottenham to sign Harry Kane.

And the investment proved to be a wise one, as the English striker quickly proved that he is the player they needed. In his first 11 games at the club, between Bundesliga, German Super Cup and Champions League, he scored 10 goals and provided 5 assists. He also became a leader on the pitch, not only for his goals but also for his influence on the team's play.

And as the gamble with Harry went well, now Bayern Munich targeted another English player from Tottenham. Boss Tuchel has applied for the recruitment of a center-back. The first choice was Trevoh Chalobah, whom the coach knows from his experience at Chelsea. But now he changed his mind and chose another Premier League defender.

According to The Sun, Eric Dier is the target. The 29-year-old English player started his professional career at Sporting Lisbon of Portugal in 2012, but since 2014 he has been at Spurs. There he has played 361 games and was for a long time a key player in the team alongside Harry Kane. His good performances even allowed him to be called up to the English National Team, with which he played the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

What will happen with him?

Eric Dier has a contract with Tottenham until June 30, 2024 and is unlikely to renew it. Since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, he has not even played a minute, as the coach prefers Micky Van de Ven and Cristian Romero. This means that Bayern Munich will be able to sign him as a free agent next summer. But Tuchel is in dire need of a defender and that could force them to make an offer for him during the winter transfer window.
