Last Sunday Atlético Madrid achieved what no one had been able to do in this season 2023/24: beat Real Madrid. Carlos Ancelotti's team had won all the matches they had played in La Liga and Champions League, but in the Civitas Metropolitano stadium they met an opponent that proved to be up to the task.

With that 3-1 victory, Los Colchoneros reached 10 points and are in 7th place in the Spanish league standings. However, they have an advantage compared to the others: they have played two games less than most clubs. A few weeks ago they were unable to face Sevilla due to bad weather conditions and will only play that game on December 23.

And this Thursday they will face Osasuna, looking for a victory that will allow them to get closer to the leaders, Girona. For this match, coach Diego Simeone won't have three of his most important players: Rodrigo De Paul, Angel Correa and Memphis Depay will not be able to play due to injuries.

Atlético Madrid's starting lineup will be: Jan Oblak, Nahuel Molina, Jose Maria Giménez, Axel Witsel, Mario Hermoso, Samuel Lino, Koke, Marcos Llorente, Saúl Ñiguez; Antoine Griezmann, Alvaro Morata. In addition, on the bench will be Ivo Grbic, Antonio Gomis, Javi Galan, Cesar Azpilicueta, Marco Moreno, Ilias Kostis, Rodrigo Riquelme, Aitor Gismera, Salim El Jebari and Adrian Niño.

They can also get closer to the top

Osasuna have three points less than Atlético Madrid in the La Liga standings, so if they get a win this Thursday, they will level them. Last weekend they drew 0-0 against Sevilla at the El Sadar stadium. Their coach, Jagoba Arrasate, decided that the XI will be: Aitor Fernández, Jesus Areso, David García, Alejandro Catena, Alvaro Juan Cruz, Pablo Ibañez, Lucas Torró, Johan Mojica, Aimar Oroz, Ezequiel Ávila, Ante Budimir.
